Union Pacific is proud to be the presenting sponsor of Council Bluffs, Iowa’s, “Celebrate CB” festival, May 10-19.
The theme this year for the annual celebration is "CB Won't You Blow Your Horn," and will highlight UP’s 150th Anniversary and the city’s long-standing relationship with the railroad.
Festivities kick off May 10 at Golden Spike Park at 5:30 p.m. with Council Bluffs Mayor Tom Hanafan issuing a proclamation honoring Union Pacific from the steps of UP’s historic steam locomotive No. 844. A blow from the engine’s whistle will signal launch of the week-long events. No. 844 and Union Pacific’s museum car, “The Promontory,” will be on display May 11-13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Promontory includes several artifacts, including railroad construction tools and remnants from UP’s earliest days, as well as stereo cards from Union Pacific’s one-of-a-kind collection and a 65” touch screen highlighting many of the communities the car will be visiting in 2012.
Other Celebrate CB events include a barbecue competition, street dance, carnival and parade.
