Held annually at the end of August and running through Labor Day, the Nebraska State Fair is built on 143 years of tradition, showcasing the talent, products and people of Nebraska. It exposes visitors to technological advancements in agriculture, first-class entertainment and Midwestern cuisine.
Union Pacific is proud to commemorate its 150th Anniversary at the state fair Sept. 1-3 in recognition of the long-standing relationship between the railroad and the citizens of the Cornhusker State.
Union Pacific's Steam Locomotive No. 844, the last steam engine built for the railroad, will be on display along with the Promontory, a 1962-vintage baggage car transformed into a state-of-the-art traveling exhibit. The Promontory allows visitors to interact with history via a 65-inch video touch screen highlighting many of the communities the car will be visiting in 2012.
Visitors also will be able to see UP’s mini-train, considered its most popular Goodwill Ambassador, and take advantage of free giveaways, such as fans and coloring books. Don't miss the opportunity to see the railroad's heritage fleet on display in Grand Island from Sept. 1 through 3. The display location is Union Pacific Yard: Westbound Hwy 30, north of the Public Safety Center.
