To re-envision the original Union Pacific commercial, we started from scratch, using charcoal and old school animation to bring the history of Union Pacific to life. Along with visions of trains and expansive landscapes, we decided to update the original song to match the new look. Keeping in synch with the original, I tried to provide a similar unpolished singing performance, coupled with a modernized look, while also paying homage to the original within the video. Dad works for Union Pacific as his proud boys are excited to follow in his footsteps and play trains while he's working. The original train and track footage is from a train museum so we abided by the rules about not shooting on or too near railroad tracks.

An enjoyable project this was. I had a blast making it with my daughter and wife. Thank you Union Pacific for having this contest. It's taken me 2 months in the making.

A newly hired Union Pacific employee receives the anticipated call to begin his first day. His preparation is encouraged by two enthusiastic duettists who sing the classic track, "Great Big Rollin' Railroad."

I found out about this contest in late June and rushed a production together (and a last-minute vocalist change) to record the essence of one day on the Union Pacific Railroad from sunrise to sunset. Thanks to Andy Koetz and Mike Peden in their help in putting this production together.

Hello my name is Ryan Morris, and I recorded, produced, and performed in this remake of the Union Pacific Railroad commercial. For purpose of upholding contest rules and regulations, the red box car featured in this film was and is decommissioned and not located on any functional railroad track. If fortunate enough to win I plan to use the funds to help finance my education at Belmont University. Thank you for listening.

When I first learned of the contest to remake the classic commercial, as a rail advocate/artist and history lover, I thought I would like to give it a try. I had this specific concept in mind but didn't posses the skills required to make it happen. I decided to learn how to do 3D-modelling, rendering, and video production. The net result of my effort is this submission and I hope it portrays the profound respect and admiration that I have for the men and women of the UP throughout the last 150 years.

Just picture everyone in the neighborhood looking at their clocks at precisely 1:50 PM and running out to a choreographed street dance celebrating Union Pacific's 150th year. This video includes a variety of ages ranging from 3 years old to retired individuals. A special thanks to our large cast of participants, our local Vancouver band, Sonic Ice Box, and our dance and production choreographer.

I teamed up with the Savannah Children's Choir and the Roundhouse Railroad Museum to create this modern take on a timeless classic.

8-year-old rail fan and Beatlemaniac Judah Rice directed this video, singing our remake of GBRR. In the last few years we've traveled thousand of miles chasing trains. Judah pulled some of his favorite footage from the hours of video he's shot in Central Texas and on Cajon Pass, California. The still photos are from the 844 Valley Eagle tour in Houston.

Celebrating CB, Great big rollin railroad

I remixed the entire song using a music making program. I also used a few clips from the resorce menu and even used one of my own.

I took the provided stock footage and worked it over a bit to increase the quality. The original song was the track on this particular video. Keeping it simple.

We printed out all 740 frames of the video as images, printed them in black and white (can't afford color!) and then hand painted each one with colored inks to recolor it. We then took pictures of each repainted frame for a total of 1460 pictures, put them together and saved it as a video! 3 months of work, but very fun :)

Here is our version of the Union Pacific Railroad commercial. The music was sung and played by Kyle Grumke, Emily Grumke, and Amanda Grumke. The train that was used was about a 2 inch model train that we borrowed from Charlie Post from the Show Me Model R.R. Company

My father has a single passion for most of his life - photographing trains. Some of my earliest memories are of us parked far out along some country road while he waited patiently for that one moment of the day to capture the perfect shot. I've never understood his obsession, but I can certainly appreciate the time and effort put into his hobby. I'd like to thank him for letting me share a glimpse of some of those thousands of images he's captured with everyone.

A fun mix of color and sound.

Generations have been inspired by trains new and old.

Some of me earliest memories are from when my father took me down to the rail yard to watch locomotives shunt cars. To this day I still find entertainment in watching them and they have been a part of my hobby of photography. I am currently a sophomore at University of Nebraska at Omaha studying Civil Engineering. Even with my busy schedule, I still find time to go out and watch/photograph trains going by. The photographs in the video are from my personal collection along with a clip from the original commercial. I feel this add nostalgia tying back to UP's original promotion.
