We are the UP FOREVER Family Band. Our video begins with a climb aboard Centennial locomotive No. 6922, on display at Cody Park in North Platte, Neb., then ventures far and wide in our attempt to pay tribute to the greatest railroad man has ever known. All music was performed and produced by, and all video was recorded by, Dennis, Robin, Alex, Jenny, and Allison Vaughn, and Chance Beams. We would like to thank our Lord, and our many friends, especially those who work for the Union Pacific Railroad, for helping to make this effort such a positive and fun experience.

  • Well folks, we are nearing the conclusion of the 1st phase of the Great Big Rollin' Railroad commercial remake contest. Once again, we just wanted to try to thank you all for supporting us in this effort. We appreciate that support and your kind comments more than you can know. We couldn't have imagined that we would ever wind up with more than 400 votes, but thanks to you all, we did. Our primary goal in entering this contest has been to show the railroad that we love in the best way that we could, and we believe that we have accomplished that goal. Your generous support helps to reinforce that belief. So one last time, we say THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS! Dennis, Robin, Alex, Jenny, & Allison Vaughn -- The UNION PACIFIC FOREVER Family Band

  • Excellent video to show how important Union Pacific RR is to our country. Reminds me of my years working as a switchman on the CNW RR. And an extra plus is that the cutie under the Christmas tree just happens to be my youngest granddaughter Allison. Great Work by all my family singing on this terrific video.

    - Ken Martin a few years ago
  • Good video and good luck.

    - James Connor a few years ago
  • I think it's great that -- in keeping with the tradition of the original GBRR commercial -- the Vaughn family used so much video filmed in and around North Platte and Bailey Yard, where the original was filmed. Especially considering that they live nearly 700 miles away.
"Check it out on the GBRR page under Song History -- it's really neat."

  • In viewing the other videos, it is apparent which submittal was done with a group that has professional singers and professional editing of the many video clips. Somebody has to go a long way to beat this band. So far, it is not close.

    - Hugh Keen a few years ago
  • It is my honor and pleasure to vote for this video, because I know of the hard work, dedication, and love for the Union Pacific Railroad that went into it. It not only reflects careful thought in it's planning and production, but more importantly, the admiration by all involved of a great American institution.

  • Friends -- Hello again. It's Robin, from the UP FOREVER Family Band. Just wanted to thank everyone once again for their continued support. Wish we could thank each and every one of you personally, but we realize that's not possible. For newcomers to this comment board, you might want to scroll down and check out the synopsis of our video that I posted a few days ago. We hope you'll agree that it adds an extra dimension to the video. Once again, thank you very much!

    - Robin Vaughn a few years ago
  • Fantastic video and of course we love the music. I like the video because it shows the trains and shows them moving along the rails. I think this should be the winner.

    - Elaine Grillo a few years ago
  • Great job!

    - Patricia Froeschner a few years ago
  • I like this video because it is nice to listen to unlike some videos which have been obnoxious and ear bleeding. Also, it showcases a lot of union pacific shots instead of clips of the artist singing or bright colorful cartoons which make me feel like I'm in la la land. This video is very well made as it is professional and would make a wonderful ad campaign for UP. You seem like a wonderful family and I hope you continue to share a passion for trains!

    - Laura Fritschle a few years ago
  • Good to hear you again! Sounds like a winner to me.
    Dee Odegard

  • I watch this video every evening just so I can hear my kids singing the great UP theme song. It gets stuck in my head but everytime I hear it I listen to hear our youngest grandchild (Allison). I do have to say that even if I had never heard them sing before I would be so blown away with this entry. I sure hope more and more people listen and vote for them as they so deserve to WIN FOR THIS TERRIFIC ENTRY.

  • Two years ago this band traveled some 700 miles from Salem, Missouri to North Platte, Nebraska, for the three day Railfest
celebration, in order to perform for 20 minutes every daylight hour, mostly one railroad song after another, receiving no pay for their trip or efforts. Talk about a family that loves UP trains!!!

    - Marion Von Rentzell a few years ago
  • Wow! That's all I can say. Wow...hi to everyone, and thanks for the update, Robin...pullin' hard for you to win. I'm gonna try to get you some more votes.

    - Jo Schaper a few years ago
  • I first met this family a few years ago when they all came for a ride on the Branson Scenic Railway, where I worked as a Trainman at the time. I had never before met an entire family that was so involved with trains. Jenny, the teenage daughter sure knew a lot more history of the American Railroads than did our Conductor or the guy doing the Narration (me). I heard this family play a few times at Silver Dollar City and became a life long fan. Not only of their music but of their wonderful family. Good Luck to UP FOREVER!

    - John Moorman a few years ago
  • I have always enjoyed hearing and watching this band perform. Good luck

    - Jack Tubbs a few years ago
  • Gotta love my 'noisy' neighbors!! good luck guys!

    - Clyde Gill a few years ago
  • great group. love to hear more

    - Gary Mcalpin a few years ago
  • We think this a great family band and we have enjoyed their music for several years now. They did a great job making this commercial and we think they should win, of course. Their family is a great example of what families should be doing as they show love and devotion to each other. This was once how families of the past acted. I think they would be a great icon for your company to be promoted by. I think it shows how great things used to be and this presents the past and present in a great way with the pictures and the music. Thanks and Good Luck to a neat family--UP Forever Family Band.

  • Hi - I'm Robin, the mom and bass player of UP FOREVER Family Band. We have had quite a few inquiries as to the details of our video, so here's a scene-by-scene explanation. We start out in Cody Park in North Platte, NE, and feature UP Centennial #6922, which is on display there, right between the restored depot from Hershey, NE, and UP Challenger #3977.

    - Robin Vaughn a few years ago
  • Next we feature a power move headed east through Gothenburg, NE. From there we move to Pacific, MO, with a 100-car loaded coal train headed to a southeastern power plant, and then we're back to central Nebraska on the transcontinental triple track and a 4-unit mixed freight headed west.

    - Robin Vaughn a few years ago
  • Next up is the "Z" train just outside of North Platte and headed to the west coast after leaving Chicago with everything from fresh food produced in the midwest to intermodal trailers full of packages shipped by UPS & FED-EX. The "Z" train is the highest priority consist on the line. If it absolutely, positively has to be there PRONTO, ship it by UPS or FED-EX and they'll hire Union Pacific to make sure that it arrives on time!

    - Robin Vaughn a few years ago
  • From there, it's back to our living room where it's Christmas-time (in April) as Allison cheerfully sings along and carefully engineers UP #6736 Operation Lifesaver locomotive through a busy RR crossing in the Christmas town under the tree where "We've got the right of way"! Next, it's back to Nebraska and the "green fields of the prairies" with a west-bound empty coal train headed back to the Powder River Basin.

    - Robin Vaughn a few years ago
  • Then in St. Louis, MO, we find members of the Union Pacific Steam Program Volunteer crew headed south to Memphis with nearly 300 Civil War re-enactors and a flat car of Civil War era cannons for the 150th commemoration of the Battle of Shiloh. Appearing in this clip are: Jim Leonard, Volunteer Coordinator of the Union Pacific Steam Program (wearing the Conductor's uniform); Jenny Vaughn, Steam Program volunteer; & Bill Waldrop, the voice of official UP Steam videos.

    - Robin Vaughn a few years ago
  • To illustrate "We'll deliver your great cargo", we have a load of lumber headed east through central Nebraska, and then auto-racks that "come rollin' home for more". From there, we're back in St. Louis to one of our favorite clips, which is the majestic Union Pacific #844 steam locomotive perfectly representing "a million miles of history a-shinin' in the sun", as no other can do.

    - Robin Vaughn a few years ago
  • The group scene that follows represents the men & women who are the backbone of Union Pacific -- track workers, engineers, office workers, mechanics, dispatchers, etc. From left to right: Michael Wright, Tara Bruns, Don "Tennessee" Angles, Ellen Fritschle, Jim Burrill, Robin Vaughn, & Walter Winston Jr. Great job, guys!

    - Robin Vaughn a few years ago
  • To finish our video, that big American flag is the one that flies over the Golden Spike Tower and Bailey Yard in North Platte, NE, and then we show refrigerator cars, diesel power, ethanol tankers, and that beautiful Union Pacific shield. Many thanks to Greg Roller of Roller Music Pro for making us sound as good as we do and for being the voice behind "Yesterday & today, tomorrow & forever -- we're the Union Pacific Railroad, Building America".
