The American Historical Theatre’s George Washington Performance returns to Laredo for a performance titled, “Welcome to…our World,” which features a presentation by George Washington and Abraham Lincoln at the TAMIU Center for Fine and Performing Arts on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. The event is free of charge and is sponsored by Union Pacific Railroad, which is celebrating its 150th Anniversary this year.
“Union Pacific has connected communities for the past 150 years and it is a privilege to recognize our past by supporting performances that highlight these great presidents,” Ivan Jaime, director of public affairs and border relations for Union Pacific Railroad said. “We look forward to celebrating the month-long Washington’s Birthday Celebration with the Laredo community.”
“Welcome to…our World” provides an inside look into the contributions of two of the country’s greatest presidents. Dressed in full military attire and mimicking George Washington’s gestures, actor Dean Malissa will take audiences back to the 18th century to help breathe life into the president who helped shape our nation. Actor Bob Gleason will portray Abraham Lincoln, who signed the Pacific Railway Act of July 1, 1862, to authorize the construction of a rail line from the Missouri River to the Pacific Ocean and create the original Union Pacific Railroad.
The up-close-and-personal performance will be followed by a question and answer session.
The 115th Washington’s Birthday Celebration takes place Jan. 19 - Feb. 19, 2012. For additional information, visit www.wbcalaredo.org, email firstname.lastname@example.org, contact the WBCA office at (956) 722-0589, or visit 1819 E. Hillside Road in Laredo, TX.
