Cheyenne, Wyoming

by Wes Haas

My dad was a fireman on the extra board and had to go to Cheyenne, Wyo., to work on account there were no positions with his seniority in Denver. My Mom and I had a pass to ride a passenger train, so we rode train #52 to Cheyenne to see my dad.

I can remember walking from the depot to our hotel and how smoky it was, and the cinders were so bad that the curb lines of the streets were coverd from the steam locomotives at the roundhouse.
